Introduction: I am a resident midwife in the Chattanooga area and practice in Tennessee, N. Georgia and Alabama. I have worked with women for over twenty years and have added pregnancy photography to my most favorite things to do. See my photos!
Have you had a home birth or do you have questions about it?: I gave birth to my youngest child in the mountains of Washington State over 27 years ago. I did not have a midwife, because no one was willing to attend a birth 50 miles from the nearest hospital; thus, I began my life-long study of midwifery.
Are you a childbirth professional?: I am a Certified Professional Midwife and a pregnancy photographer. My growing collection of maternity and newborn portraits will be displayed in "Celebrating Motherhood." My goal is to spread awareness of pregnancy & normal birth through art.
What do you have to offer this group? What would you like from it?: I offer education and discussion on midwifery, childbirth and its history. My Master of Arts in History enables me to focus on cultural and historical assumptions, language and medical imperitives of birth that continue to be embedded in our lives.
