Birth, a play by Karen Brody and a BOLD event will be held September 5,6 and 7th at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Greenville. Proceeds will go to ICAN (Greenville Chapter) and North Carolina Friends of Midwives to help support mother-friendly maternity care for North Carolina mothers.

Called "The Vagina Monologues of birth", Birth is a play based on over one hundred interviews Karen Brody conducted with mothers across America who gave birth between 2000-2004. It tells the true stories of 8 women painting a portrait of how low-risk, educated women are giving birth in America today.

Independence Birth Day, Preserve our Birth Rights - July 2 in Raleigh at the Legislative Buildings
Please join with NCFOM in Raleigh to let the Legislators know that in light of the recent Resolutions by the AMA and ACOG, that we are here to proclaim a Declaration of Birthing Independence.
Women and families do not want their rights to birthing options trampled on. As the early American Gladsden Flag that had the rattlesnake on it said, "Don' tread on me!"
NCFOM will have a table in the legislative building from 9 am to 3 pm on Wednesday July 2.
We will be handing out snacks and information. We need lots of people to show up. Please come for as long or as short a time as you can.
This is the last scheduled week of this legislative session. We need to make a BIG impression especially in light of the AMA resolutions. Our voices need to be heard about the importance of the CPM being legalized in our state, and this needs to occur long before the AMA proposes legislation outlawing homebirth. No legislation without representation by the people and for the people.

We will have a local chiropractor, Dr. Williams, come and speak about chiropractic care in the prenatal and postpartum period. He will also discuss the advantages of this type of care for the newborn and infant. He is very informative and welcomes lots of questions. Please come and enjoy learning more.

Afterwards we will talk about legislative days in Raleigh.

We will be showing the Ricki Lake film, The Business of Being Born. We will have a panel afterwards of midwives and others to answer questions about the film or childbirth options. The movie will last 1 1/2 hours long. Please tell your friends about this film. It is well done and paked with great information.
