I'm hoping to learn more about home birthing, so that we are prepared when the time comes. I certainly feel like an advocate of home birthing already!
When the doc on call (a woman) walked into my hospital room barefooted, turned down all the lights, turned up the heat, pulled a mirror to the foot of the bed, went to the side of the bed, and hooked my foot on her hip. After delivery of the placenta, she told me all about it, showed it to me, asked me if I wanted to touch it. I swore I'd never have a female doc (all the rumors). Now I swear I'll never use a man!
I genuninely appreciated the candidness of the group. Hearing their birth stories, even the ones that didn't go smoothly, and how they had the backbone and courage to stand their ground and have the birth that they both wanted and also taking into consideration what nature wanted, was very informative, encouraging, empowering.
